Laser Hair Removal

What Is Diode Laser?

A Diode laser is a semiconductor device that produces coherent radiation With a wavelength of 808nm it has a deep penetration and is attracted to the
Pigment in the hair and skin. It can be used on skin types 1-5 for hair reduction. Clients skin type 3 – 5should always have first treatment on lowest settings.

How does it work?

Laser remove hair through a process called Selective Photo thermolysis in which energy in the form of Wavelengths is delivered into the hair shaft and follicle. The light is attracted to and absorbed by the melanin And this heats the tissue causing thermal damage to the follicle resulting in hairs weakening or not growing Back.

How many treatments?

The amount of treatments can vary from person to person but usually 8-12 treatments will give you a reduction Of up to 80-90% and then maintenance treatments once a year. If there is a hormonal imbalance you may
Require more maintenance treatments.

IPL hair removal

What is IPL

IPL is a non-invasive treatment technique for hair removal and skin rejuvenation treatments, including skin clearing, redness reduction and skin tone correction.

 Intense Pulsed Light Treatment?

IPL is a non-invasive light-based technology used to remove unwanted hair and improve many skin conditions.  Such conditions as age spots, sun spots, freckles, superficial capillaries and other unsightly discolouration of the skin can be eliminated using this technology.  IPL is also incredibly effective for those of us who suffer from facial redness and can even stimulate fibroblast causing increased collagen production in your skin for a more natural, lively, healthier looking you!

How does IPL work?

A fully trained therapist will apply a specially designed hand piece to your skin and generate an intense pulse of light which will be absorbed by targets in your skin. The light delivered from the hand piece is delivered at high intensity during a very short period of time. It is this rapid discharge of light that provides the high energy levels required for each IPL treatment to be effective!

Hair Removal Treatments

IPL hair removal treatments are easy, painless and quick solution to unwanted hair and can be successfully used on the body or the face.  Usually a course of 8–12 treatments is required to achieve optimal result, but once you’ve completed your treatment cycle, you can look forward to a lifetime of smooth skin with only the occasional maintenance treatment.  Compare that to the cost and hassle of a lifetime of waxing. Skin Tone Correction Whether born with them or acquired over the course of a lifetime, virtually everyone has one or more sun spots, freckles or skin discolouration they’d love to get rid of!  A doctor’s letter confirming that no skin cancers are present is usually required before commencing your treatment cycle and a series of 8 – 12 treatments spaced 4 week apart are required for optimal results.  Treatments areas such as backs of hands, forearms, decolletage and face will respond well. Rejuvenation Treatment Everybody loves the sunshine! Limited exposure is good for the soul and the immediate effects it has on the skin such as a tan and healthy glow are much desired.  However, in the long term, sun exposure decreases the production of collagen, which in turn causes damage to the skin making it feel wrinkled and coarse and looking red and tired.  Skin rejuvenation treatments will improve skin tone, texture, refine and refresh the skin by increasing the production of collagen in the skin.

pH Revision Hair Removal Treatment Protocol

What is pH Revision Hair Removal?

The DMK pH Revision Hair Removal Protocol utilises the DMK Alkaline Wash solution to effectively remove hair and can be used on most parts of the body. This DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment is commonly applied to fine facial hair. This type of hair can be difficult to treat with electrolysis, IPL or laser as it is usually dense, the follicles are small and it involves a great amount of time and/or there is no colour present for light technologies. The advantage of the Alkaline Wash is that it is possible to remove large areas of hair in one treatment, with little to no discomfort or irritation.

What is Alkaline Wash and how does it work?

DMK Alkaline Wash is mixed into a paste and applied to the required area for a short period of time, depending on the coarseness and thickness of the hair. The DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment is not like a hair removal cream. It is of a much higher pH, specifically for the purpose of hair removal, but also for reducing hair re-growth. The solution will be monitored by your DMK Professional Skin Revision Therapist and the solution will be removed at the appropriate time.
After the first DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment the hair will grow back at its normal rate, however as DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatments progress the rate of re-growth should lessen, resulting in a reduction of the appearance of hair over a period of time. Some hormonal hair growth may not reduce. The initial appearance of the skin observed is of a shiny nature which can also feel slippery. The texture of the skin will also improve over the series of DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatments.

What should you feel?

You will feel a cold sensation upon application of the Alkaline Wash. The area being treated will be kept moist until the hair has dissolved and is ready to be removed. You should feel no sensation at this stage. If you do feel any discomfort please notify your DMK Professional Skin Revision Therapist immediately so they can monitor or remove the solution. A neutraliser will be applied and ice applied to the skin to cool and calm the skin. A combination of amino acids, vitamins and mineral and anti-inflammatory serums and crèmes will be applied to restore the pH of the skin and support both the DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment and the skin.

What to expect:

The skin will feel rubbery and slippery. You may also experience some tingling with the application of the DMK serums and crèmes after the DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment. This is to be expected and is normal. You may also experience some post-treatment sensations, which are common with your first DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment and which will not pose any long-term issues as long as you adhere to your full DMK Home Prescriptive program.
The DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment is usually pain free. However in some cases, usually after the initial DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment before the skin has adjusted to the Alkaline Wash, you may experience some redness or dryness. You may also experience some superficial scabs, although this usually occurs when the hair is very coarse and the Alkaline Wash solution may need to be left on the skin for a longer period. As long as you do not scratch or pick the scabs they should heal normally.
